THE YEAR DOLLY PARTON WAS MY MOM. Canada, 2011 (95 min.) Dir: Tara Johns. With: Gill Bellows, Macha Grenon, Julia Sarah Stone. An 11 year old girl waiting for adolescence discovers she is adopted and leaves home searching for Dolly Parton who she thinks is her mother.

BARNEY'S VERSION. Canada/Italy, 2010 (134 min.) Dir: Richard Lewis. With: Paul Giamatti, Rosamund Pike, Dustin Hoffman. The picaresque and touching story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky. Based on the novel by Mordecai Richler. Nominee Best Motion Picture Genie 2011.

PICHÉ : ENTRE CIEL ET TERRE*. Canada, 2010 (107 min.) Dir: Sylvain Archambault. With: Michel Côté, Maxime Leflaquais, Isabelle Guérard. In 2000, the pilot of an Air Transat airliner has to deal with an emergency in midair, but even if he becomes a hero, his not-so-glorious past may attract more attention than he would like.

FUNKYTOWN*. Canada, 2011 (132 min.) Dir: Daniel Roby. With: Patrick Huard, Justin Chatwin, Paul Doucet. Story set in Montreal during the disco phenomenon in the 1970s where a group of trendsetters in a popular club are trying to make it big.

FRENCH IMMERSION*. Canada, 2011 (90+ min.) Dir: Kevin Tierney. With: Karine Vanasse, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Colm Feore. Four anglophone Canadians and one American relocate to a remote Quebec town where the citizens are eager to help them learn French. (to be confirmed)
